In 1939, Russell Hosiery Mills was founded by Paul Russell. His company was a top hosiery manufacturer in the US for 47 years, selling socks to sports teams, big box stores, food & drug, along with many other industries. The company home office was located in the town of Star, NC and held a northeastern hub in the Empire State Building in New York City. It was staffed with many of the residents of the town of Star. In 1986, well known sports apparel company wanted to get in on the sock game and because of the high quality of Russell products, they bought the company. Thus, Russell Fashion Foot Hosiery was born and since 1986, has supplied the foods and drug industries with high quality socks that you purchase in stores today. Using the high quality standard that Paul Russell held, our products remain true to his 1939 vision of quality and construction, of course we aren't using trends from 1939 today, but we do continue to keep your feet warn, comfortable and less stinky.

The old Russell Hosiery Mills facility still stands today and is a major art center for the area called Starworks.
